Time For A Change? 7 Signs You Need A New Job

Time for change

Sometimes the time is right to leave a certain position, and it doesn’t make you a quitter. We outgrow jobs just like we outgrow clothes, so here are 7 signs that it’s time for you to take the plunge and start searching for something new in the world of work.

You’re bored, stressed, or unchallenged

If you’re wasting hours on Facebook and can’t remember the last time you did something that required a little brain power, it’s time to move on. Without stimulation and opportunities to develop both personally and professionally, you might as well be staring out the window. In fact, you probably are.

You got promoted – without a pay rise

So your workload has increased, you’ve taken on a bunch of new responsibilities, but your pay remains the same. While there are sometimes reasons for this, it could be a bad sign of your company’s finances or just how much they value you, and it might be time to start looking elsewhere.

Your ideas are ignored

There’s nothing more frustrating than working with a team and/or manager who don’t seem to value — or even listen to — your ideas. If you’re putting forward your best and getting little to no response, you should take those ideas somewhere they’ll be appreciated.

You hate Mondays… and every other day

No one looks forward to Mondays after a fun-filled weekend, but if you dread going into the office every single day, something is seriously wrong. Instead of counting down to Friday, start thinking about how your skills could be put to use somewhere more fulfilling.

The company is in crisis

Have raises and bonuses been cancelled, clients lost, or projects put on hold? It could be the first sign of trouble for your company, and redundancies may lie ahead. You don’t have to go down with a sinking ship, so grab a life jacket and get out of there.

You’ve received another offer

For certain positions, companies and recruiters will be chasing you to chat about new roles they think you’d be perfect for. If you find something that excites you, offers more money or will advance your career, it’s time to make the move. A new challenge might be just what you’re looking for.
